Vegas...continued.

I am having a problem with my pictures and words combining on the blog right now, so had to break this into 2-3 blogs to make it work. The pictures I already posted are of me in front of the Treasure Island Hotel, a dolphin, and a white lion. This is me "trying" to eat a very large pastrami sandwich.

To say I had a blast in Vegas last week would not be an exaggeration. So much to do - so little time. Sunday was kind of quiet as that was the day we got in and got settled. The big conquest of that day was at the airport. Donna - Rob's sister - got in an hour before we landed so she waited to go to the hotel with us. Rob rented a minivan and it looked like the clowns getting into the VW at the circus. The van had 6 seats and a tiny rear compartment. There were 5 adults and a baby with car seat..plus 5 large suitcases, 6 carry-on bags, purses, water bottles,etc....and a full size stroller-all packed into that van!! It was an awesome job of packing on Rob's part.

Monday after breakfast, we headed for the Siegfried and Roy Gardens where we saw the dolphins and the white lions and tigers. Monday night was casino night for several of the group. We spent part of each day and evening sightseeing in different hotels, as they all had their own theme. I especially liked New York,New York because it had Cony Island games including Skeet Ball - which I love. Brian, Donna, and Pam went on the roller coaster while I played skeet ball and Rob entertained the baby. Wednesday afternoon I babysat so Pam,Rob, Donna and Brian could do lunch and go to the casino. Siena was not allowed inside any of the casinos. Arlene enjoyed the casinos most of the week while I enjoyed our tour of Hoover Dam and the show "O". I had room service for the first time in my life as Rob ordered my lunch in the room the day I babysat. I was awed at all the elevators and escalators we rode on on this trip. To cross streets in Vegas, you take either an escalator or an elevator(with the stroller) up the side of one street - walk across a bridge-way - and take the escalator or elevator down on the other side. We were on the 10th floor in our hotel - Paris - so we rode the elevator more times than I can count. Brian and I shared a room as he was only there 2 nights. There is so much more I could tell you all about this trip, but have not the time or the patience with this blog right now.

Sufficed to say it was the most wonderful birthday celebration I ever had in my 75 years here on Earth, and I want to thank everybody who had a part in making this trip possible. I want to say a special thank you to Rob's sister - Donna, who flew from NY to be with us and who was like a daughter to me the whole week. She even taught me how to play Black Jack and gave me money for my birthday to use for the casino. She bought the show tickets so Pam,she and I went out to a nice restaurant and then to a Vegas show one evening - an experience I'll never have again. The whole trip was a great success and I would be remiss if I didn't thank Pam and Rob for organizing this trip and making my special day such a blast.

There was enough meat in that HALF sandwich so the other 5 people at the table had pastromi for lunch besides their own orders. Rob ate the other half of that sandwich!!!
