Bad Week So Far

It's hard to believe this is only Tuesday night. I've had enough problems so far this week for a month. Yesterday morning I got up to about 1"+ of water on my bathroom floor. Seems my toilet tank had sprung a leak. As I came out into the living room to open my blinds, one of the chain cords felll off on the floor so I couldn't open that blind all day. Then I proceeded to the kitchen to make a pot of tea, and a bulb blew in my overhead kitchen light fixture. Then Sasha tipped over my living room candle unit which has a water fountain and rocks included....thus another mess to clean up. This all happened in ONE hour. I tried to reach the maintenence man to come fix the water leak in the bathroom so water wouldn't get down to the apartment below me, or ruin my own stuff. No one was answering the phone and no one was in the office. About an hour later, as I was leaving to watch Siena for the day while Pam was at work, I caught the maintenence man out watering the flowers in front of the apartment building. I jokenly offered him some water from my bathroom floor to use...and then explained all the things that needed fixing in my apartment. I left him to go in and do the work, as I was late getting over to Pams. This was yesterday!!

Today was my first day of classes at FRCC. I got up to pouring rain - which lasted most of the day. Thank God I had Arlene's car for the day and didn't have to stand out in the rain. However, I got soaked after I got on campus, as my first class was at the furthest end of the campus and I had to walk thru the campus outside to get there. On the way, I stopped in at the cafeteria to get a brreakfast sandwich,as I hadn't eaten breakfast yet. I discovered the cafeteria is closed for the summer due to repairs. SO....I went all day with nothing to eat as I forgot to take a sandwich with me. My 3 classes are all just 15 minutes apart, so there is no time to eat anyway. From class one to class two, I had to go outside again in the rain and walk to another building. Got out of my last class at 4 pm as I left 1/2 hour early. I drove over to Arlene's to have her take me home so she could have her car back. I weirly climbed the stairs up to my apartment: wet, tired, and loaded with homework for Thursday.....and my house key wouldn't open my apartment door!! Now I am locked out of my apartment with no car, no food, and no one in the office downstairs. I,luckily, had my cell phone so I called Pam and asked her what to do. About that time, one of the apartment managers drove up. I was never so glad to see her in my life. She took her master key and opened my door and then tried my key and it worked. She said the tumblers in the lock apparently got juggled luct right so the key wouldn't work....it took her a few minutes to make her key work. I finally get inside and take off my wet clothes and changed into something warmer, as it has been cold and wet all day. I go to the computer to check for emails....and I have 247 spams and 34 spams on my email page plus 9 regular emails that needed attending to. I decided dinner comes first!! SO....here I sit, answering blogs and emails....wondering what the rest of the week will bring!

The rest of the week should be a breeze for you. First of all, I would suggest an umbrella that can go in your purse. Mighty Handy! Secondly, look up your horoscope and find out when this retrograde, or whatever it is, is going to end. Thirdly, I would double check the key BEFORE you leave tomorrow. Just in case. Doesn't hurt to double check. Good luck with the rest of your week. Barbara

Brian suggested the umbrella also. I just didn't think of it as this was the first day in 15 months that it has rained hard all day.

Geez - if it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have had any luck at all! Cheer up - it could be worse. We're STILL waiting for warm weather here. Every day is wind and cold....wind and cold. I'm so sick of wind and cold!!!

Yes this was a bad day! But on the bright side not as bad as when your birthday cake collapses from the weight of all the candles this next January.

Thanks Richard...remember - what goes around comes around!!

You should toss a few no-perishable snacks in the bottom of your backpack for dining emergencies such as this one. At least you got to see your 2 granddaughters this week!

Just put some peanut butter crackers and goldfish crackers in the backpack this morning....and the umbrella!!

I would suggest some fresh fruits and/or veggies instead of just crackers. Crackers are okay, but have no nutritional value and will just make you thirsty, so then you will have to carry a drink too! Fruits, veggies, a sandwich, etc. will also sustain you throughout the day better.

Everybody in Colorado carries a drink, Brenda, to avoid dehydration. I have a school water bottle that fits in the side pocket of my backpack. I don't like fresh fruit and I can't chew veggies uncooked. I had a wonderful turkey and Swiss cheese sandwich made on sourdough bread for lunch today compliments of Pam, as I was out of bread and the school cafeteria is closed for the summer for renovations.

All well and good, but I still say that you need more fresh fruit in your diet - it's very important, especially at your age. As the saying goes..."an apple a day keeps the doctor away!"

I eat tons of strawberries and ocassionaly will eat canned fruit. Can't eat apples even if I liked them. We're all going to die someday, so - at my age - am not going to waste time fretting over diet choices. I've survived 74+ years on the foods I like and my daddy always said....if it ain't broke - don't fix it!!
