Bits and Pieces

Ah, a beautiful morning it is!! It is 6 am on a Sunday morning, and as I stepped out on my patio with my cup of tes, the sun was peeking up over the horizon to greet me. It's a bit on the fallish side this weekend as a cold front has moved into the front range, but not to fear - weather man says it will be back in the 90s by next weekend. Gotta love Colorado weather.....yesterday afternoon it was pouring, driving rain with hail and high winds for about 15 minutes...then the sun came out brightly. This morning all is calm and it looks like we might get a lovely day for outside activities.

We have a vigorous debate going on on Face Book over the "hot topic" in Washington - health care reform. Brian started the whole thing by airing his initial view on what he thought should happen. Eventually, as the debate has grown, he has interjected even more fuel to the fire. Nothing I like better than a good debate. It has spilled over to Pam's blog to a degree but Brian's blog is very active on this topic. I think Washington should consider hiring those of us involved in this debate to settle the whole mess, because they don't seem to be doing a great job at the moment. Many people around the country are speaking out on this issue....some even bringing guns to the town meetings. The man who pointed a gun at our president here in Colorado will not have to worry about his health care for awhile!!! We were discussing this subject this summer in my government class, but it has escalated to a much higher degree now as people are bringing the fear factor into play. What troubles me about this whole mess is everyday we are hearing different information and nobody can pinpoint exactly what the "guys on the hill" plan to actually do. My concern is that everybody deserves health care, but at what cost and how is it going to be administered? Guess we'll keep debating and listening for more information.

Plans are well underway for our trip to Maine. All of us have our plane tickets bought, Nrian and Pam have made arrangements for a rent-a-car, we have all paid for the cottage rental....and now it's just 3 weeks 'til we hit the airways. Sure hope the weather cooperates as Maine has had some rotten weather so far this year. It is also hurricane season on the east coast and since we will be right on the shore at Bailey Island, it could be rough water if any weather disturbances are in the area. I actually can't wait to see a seagull again!!!

I am pacing the floor waiting for my financial aid to come through before my bill payment deadline hits on 5pm on Wednesday. Brian has reassured me he will pay my tuition for this fall and then I will repay him if it doesn't come through in time. There was a snafu in my needing to be verified die to my address change from previous years. However, I didn't receive the verification request back in march and my guidance councilor just became aware of it the first of August. If my bill for the fall semester isn't paid by 5 pm on Wednesday, I will be dropped from all fall classes. Not cool!!

Better get going as it will soon be time to get ready for church. Dinner and games at Pam's house tonight, babysitting the imp tomorrow. Life is good!!
