September 1st and counting....

In 3 days Pam, Siena, and I will be flying the friendly skies on our way to Maine for a week. Rob is driving us from Ft.Collins to the DIA in Denver...about an hour away. Since we have an 8 am flight, we will be leaving here at 5 am. It takes an an hour + to get into the airport and unload at the curb. Then we have to get a cart to haul all our luggage, the car seat, the stroller, etc. into the terminal to check our bags and the car seat. Then we have to go through security with all 3 of us plus a stroller, 4 carry-on bags (2 apiece), and the inevitable search of everything we don't check. After we get cleared for take-off, we have to go get some breakfast as it is a 4-5 hour direct flight to Boston with no food except our munchies.

This is a busy week for both Pam and I. We have both packed and repacked our luggage as Siena doesn't get a checked bag so we have to make room in our luggage for her needs on the plane and the trip from Boston to Bailey Island. We will go grocery shopping when we hit either S.Portland or Brunswick for diapers, baby food, formula, baby cereal, etc. for Siena and food for us. Brian will be going shopping for some stuff as he gets to the cottage early in the afternoon on Saturday with his direct flight from Houston to Portland. Pam, Siena, and I will be stopping in Ogunquit to see some of her family as there will be little time at the wedding to visit. We won't get to the cottage until late in the evening.

Pam and I both got our flu shots today, as flu is already raging out here. Students are coughing and sneezing all over FRCC and I was opening doors today with my sweater sleeve to avoid germs as much as possible. Siena can't get her flu shot as she needs a smaller dosage, a smaller needle, etc. Her pediatrician doesn't have it in yet. Pam and I got ours at the grocery store!!! We both felt as child care providers, we needed to protect ourselves so we can care for Siena. Also, with so much traveling this coming week and being closed inside a tight airplane cabin for 4 + hours, she will probably be exposed to germs we can't avoid.

After getting our flu shots, we went to Target and got some last minute items like a new book and a new toy for Siena to have on the plane and a video for her to watch on Pam's laptop. YES..
as Pam said....we will probably break the rule that Siena isn't allowed to watch TV as we need to keep her occupied for 4 hours in a very cramped space. Hopefully between her toys, video, sippy cup, books, Cheerios, etc., she will enjoy her flight.

I have one more day of school this week and then I can tie up the loose ends here at the house. Rob is babysitting the cat and the goldfish, but this will be the 1st time I've left sasha for more than 2 days in her life. Can't wait to see what the house will look like on September 12th!
