In The Beginning...

In the beginning, God made snow. When He saw how much fun the people were having playing in the snow up on the mountains....He gave the rest of us snow. This is what I woke up to this morning. This is a 3-day storm which started last night and is supposed to go through Thursday. For the first time since I moved here, the schools are closed today due to the intensity of the storm. We are supposed to have high winds and heavy snow all day and night with a predicted accumulation of up to TWO FEET. Pam had to go into Loveland today to work. Hopefully, she'll make it both ways without getting whacked by some one who doesn't know how to handle their vehicle in this stuff. She is very miserable right now with a cold she got from Siena, so having to go out in this storm is not going to help her mood.

Yesterday was midterms at school (thank goodness they were yesterday as FRCC will probably be added to the closure list tomorrow). This means only 6 more weeks for this semester. Since we have a break Thanksgiving week, that means only 11 classes left. Doesn't seem possible the holidays are just around the corner, but it sure looks like it outside.

This is the type of day when you curl up with a good book....or with unfinished homework. In the interim, I'll wait for the sun to come out and melt all this lovely white adornment away!!

I hate to say it, but I'm glad you are getting it and not us. We will have it all too soon, and I don't even want to think about winter coming. Just grin and bear it - at least you have the benefit of knowing that within a week or less, it will probably be all gone again. I think, perhaps, that you should have moved to Florida or Arizona considering your opinions of snow and winter!

Arizona...maybe. Florida...never! The older I get, the more the cold bothers me. I can tolerate the snow as long as it isn't too cold. It's also nice if the public works plows the streets properly. Here in Ft.Collins, they only plow main arteries and streets that schools are on.....thus they do NOT plow Pam's street or the other streets in her area unless there is an emergency need.

I agree with Brenda. Better you than us, but we all know, we will get our turn for the next 6 months!! Ours doesn't melt away! Enjoy the winter bliss for a few days and then you will be back in to sunshine and clear roads!!!

Most of the time plows aren't needed. The main streets were dry this morning. Our street has a car width uncovered down to the pavement and only a few inches on the other parts. This is despite the knee deep snow on my lawn.

I've cleared off the landscaping 3 times already, so the weight doesn't kill anything (heavy wet snow, usually from warmer temps). My neighbors don't appear to be as smaht.

Not exactly "miserable" with the cold - feeling better, just a little less energy than normal and a bout of sneezing and coughing every now and then. Roads are mostly clear (except ours, which will be yucky most of the winter due to lack of southern exposure.) Going to try to build a halloween snowman on the lawn this afternoon.
