Senior Saints Christmas Party

Most of the southern parts of Colorado woke this morning to a foot of snow or more. We got a maximum of 2" here in Fort Collins, but it was very cold all day. Donna decided to go ahead with the party as scheduled as the alternative day - Thursday - many of us couldn't attend due to other commitments. 26 of us congregated at the church at noon today including our pastor, our assistant pastor; our song leader, and our office administrator. We had enough food to feed the whole church including 5 home-made soups, 6 different salads, 2 pies, a cake, and several jello molds. Water was the beverage of the day as it usually is at our church. The white elephant gift exchange was a lot of fun. I ended up with 3 mini-Christmas tea towels.

The pastor had just got in from DIA at 3 am this morning. He had been on a missionary trip to Spain for the past week. His wife drove into Denver to pick him up earlier in the evening, but the driving was terrible due to the heavy snowfall. He did stay for lunch with us and then he and the assistant pastor left to attend to other things. Our church has an academy for students K-12 so one of the pastors has to be in the school office most of the days.

The beautiful village decorations all came from Donna's home. She went in yesterday with Eloise and got the tables set up and the room decorated. Donna is our leader and plans our events every month - as well as many other tasks in our church. She has been practicing every night this week for the cantata on Sunday which added to her usual weekly schedule. She lives 45 minutes away in Loveland, so we all think she is pretty amazing.

The pictures include: The 5 crockpots of soup, three of the men in our group, Pastor Jeff, Donna and Eloise (my two best friends at church), my FIRST plate of lunch!!, a decorated table, and 3 other ladies in our group. We had a wonderful time and all went home full and happy

I don't see you in any of these picures?! You need to hand the camera to someone else, so that you can be in the pictures too!

Glad to hear you didn't get stuck with a really bad white elephant gift. Where in Loveland does she live that she is 45 min away? Your church is on the south side of Fort Collins and Loveland is the next town over, so the farthest she could be is 20 minutes unless she drives *really slow* or lives outside of Loveland in the county or something.
