What's the difference.....a tradition which is something that is handed down from year to year; or a resolution, which is a solution to a problem that usually lasts a few weeks!!
My son, Brian, says a resolution he always makes is not to make resolutions. Over the years I - like most Americans - have made resolutions to lose weight, read more, organize my closets, etc. The only positive resolution I've made in my lifetime is the one I made on December 24th,2007. I resolved to quit smoking after 65 years.....and I DID it!! My son called that the BIG ONE!!! Most resolutions are broken within 3 weeks from the date they are made.
A tradition, however, is something that has been done over and over and passed down through generations some times. Brian's 52nd birthday was Monday, and he received a birthday card from a friend which looked very familiar. A college friend from his days at Columbia and he started a tradition 19 years ago of sending the same birthday card back and forth to each other on their birthday. Brian just received the card with a new blank page stapled inside - as they have run out of places to sign the card. In three weeks, Brian will send the card back to his friend for his birthday. I have had a tradition for several years. Every New Years Day, I watch the Rose Bowl parade, the football games, and take down my Christmas decorations.
Some traditions can be broken!! I resolved long ago to throw out the tradition of putting away the white clothes and shoes on Labor Day! I gave up the tradition of not walking on the cracks in the sidewalks as most of the infrastructure in our communities is so broken up....the cracks are not to be seen.
Maybe today we can all start a new tradition......be kind to one another and wear clothes when we are on the web cam!!!

AMEN!! Mother
Who are you referring to about wearing clothes on the web cam? If it is Brian, he can get away with that as he is a guy, but you can't, even if it is 65 degrees! (Reference to our prior conversation on that subject :)
I'm 74.....I think I can "get away" with whatever I want to...like Mike said,"If you don't like what you see....turn the TV off!
If that's the case, I would definitely turn it off! How would you explain that to your 10-year-old grandson who is watching you on the webcam??? Or, one of your sons-in-law??? Sometimes, you need to think about others who might be involved, and not just your own personal tastes and opinions....
I'm not going to use this format to debate with you, Brenda. You really need to lighten up....my original statement about wearing clothes when you are on the web cam was a meant as a joke....and I'm sure everyone else took it as such!
