Summer Duldrums

Middle of July and not much doing. Going to school two days a week, watching Siena one day a week, working on homework and usual house keeping chores the rest of the time. The A/C hums along most of the time now with temperatures in or near the 90s. At night it is the circular fan whirling all night to keep the bedroom cool enough to sleep in.

Sasha is still Sasha and a brat most of the time. I think the "terrible twos" will last with her forever, as she delights in hearing me holler at her or spray her with water for aggravating me. When I scold her for being naughty, she just lays down and rolls over on her back and looks up at me as if to say, "Not me...I'm a good girl!!" I keep threatening her that I'm going to take her back over to Norman and Chloe's house to show her how good kittys behave, but she knows that won't happen.

Summer in Texas is in the 100s now while summer in the U.P. and Maine is still rainy and in the 60s. Our best season is coming up between August and Thanksgiving. The severe daily thunderstorms and tornados will have abated by then and it will still be excellent weather for outside activities.

Meanwhile, I'm finishing summer session in 2 weeks and the fall semester starts on August 24th. One of my instructors - who is around my age - said the other day..."Every day we get a day older and a day smarter" and I guess he is right.

I believe the word is "doldrums", so I am assuming that "duldrums" is a play on the word dull? Haven't even put our air conditioner in yet, and at the rate we're going, may not have to. Enjoy every minute of your warm summer. It is true that we all get "a day older", but I'm not too sure about the "day smarter" part!
