Back to Reality

No more lobster boats in Mackerel Cove; no more seagulls on the grass of Brunswick's Mall; no more mosquitoes carrying us off at Fort Popham.....I'm now back in the beautiful state of Colorado looking out my patio at the majestic mountains. There's a twinge of fall in the air. Smoke is curling out of chimmneys as the cool mornings now require the lighting of fireplaces. There is a crispness in the air in the afternoons as I watch the aspen leaves turn bright yellow, and the geraniums on my patio are in full bloom. All the kids are back in school...young and old. Football season is in full season while baseball is soon going to be playing play-off games. The Colorado Avalanche dropped the first puck of the year Sunday as they started their season.

It's hard to believe the holidays are just around the corner. Siena has her first Halloween costume so she can go "trick-or-treating" this year. The stores are already decked out in their Christmas gear and we haven't even celebrated Thanksgiving yet!

The best part of this month for me is the return of my great nephew from Iraq. He has a 4-month old daughter he has never seen yet and a wife and 3 sons waiting to welcome him back on American soil. Their holidays should be spectacular.

Be it in Maine or Colorado- the best time of the year is always the last 3 months of the year. This year january will also be a very busy month with Siena's 1st birthday and my 75th birthday trip to Las Vegas. Don't have time to think about my aches and pains between school and holiday preparations. Tomorrow is Sasha's 2nd birthday.....doesn't seem possible. That means I have been smoke-free for almost 2 years and have lived in Colorado for the same length of time. YaHoo....guess I'll go make Sasha a catnip cake and just rejoice in my good fortune of the past 2 years!!

It was Maine-ish. That was a picture of the boat Brian bought the lobsters off of. He was on the boat with the captain making his transaction when I took the picture.

I am liking this picture, especially on such a cold, windy snow day as today!
