The Big Day Arrived

Saturday was an early day and a long day! We were all up by 6 am as Rob had to take the truck to the garage to have new "shoes" put on it while Pam went and got donuts for breakfast. They picked me up with all my food packages and baby shower gifts at 8:30. Arlene arrived at Pam's around 9am. After we all ate our breakfast of low-fat donughnuts (never heard of those??????), we all went to work making sandwich fillings, veggie platters, cutting out shapes of bread to spred the fillings on; making a bread bowl for a spinach dip with bread cubes; getting out platters and bowls for chips and sandwiches, etc. Around noon, we loaded 6 metal chairs into the Subaru with all my gifts and my sandwiches/chips. Arlene had her gifts and food in her car. Rob drove us over to the truck garage to get his truck and then I had to drive the Subaru as Pam is too large to fit under the steering wheel of the car. She can drive the truck fine. After we got over to Allisons' Pam and I unloaded her car and Arlene unloadedhers. After introductions, we set to work getting the wood onto platters, bowls, whatever...and loaded the dining room table. Allison had the two cakes and the punch bowl out on the railing wall between the kitchen and the sunken living room. The table was loaded with food!!!! The sunken living room soon filled up also....with people and gifts. Most of the guests were Pam's soroity sisters or women married to men who work with Rob.

Pam got scads of things for the little princess. I have shared many pictures of the food and gifts. We played three games like who could guess the size of Pam's belly, the "baby" clothespin game and write down the most items in a basket after you've had time to look it over. Everybody had a lot of fun. The party broke up around 3:30, but by the time we got all the food taken care, the chairs all put back, the dishes washed and sorted out to whom they belonged, the car loaded with all the gifts, and all the good-byes; it was close to 4:30 when we left. Rob had been feeling ill most of the afternoon, but he came out when we got home and helped unload the car. Then Pam brought me home in the truck.

Last night I had dinner with Pam and Rob. Pam had been busy most of the day opening her gifts and removing pins, tissue paper and hangers and filling a laundry basket. Everything got washed and then either folded for thr dresser sections or put on hangers for the closet. Rob coooked spaghetti with turkey meatballs and fresh brocolli while we finished up the nursery. She got a lot of things she registered for and a lot she didn't get. She only got one bib and one package of diapers. Two things most baby showers are flooded with. She got gift certificates to get what she needs still....except for the main occupant!!!!!

Good Job, helping Pam and Rob out that way. I'm sure they appreciated it. Keep up the good work.
