This, too, shall pass...

How time flies...it's hard to believe I've actually lived here in Colorado almost a year. Many things are different here than back East such as the weather, the people, and some costs. Even the holiday traditions are different out here for me. This will be my first year without a Christmas tree, as I have no room for a tree in this apartment. Our Christmas celebration will be a stocking exchange at Pam's house on Christmas Eve......nothing going on on Christmas Day that I'm aware of except possibly going to church if there is a service. This is my first holiday season away from "home" and it is taking some adjustment to cope. I have to keep reminding myself that II Corinthians 5:17 says..."old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

Thanksgiving dinner was delicious, but except for Pam, Rob, and Arlene.....the other 6 people were in a different age bracket then I am and were strangers to me. Definitely not the Thanksgivings of years past with Barbara and Mike with the grandchildren and great grandchildren....with a prayer of Thanksgiving before we ate. Most Christmases were also spent with family and opening gifts from under the tree. Most people call it "memories".....I call it "trying to adjust".

I know it's hard and I wish I could do something or say something to make it ALL OK. Just know that we were thinking of you and wishing you the easiest of adjustments. It will take time, but at some point, you will come to think of Fort Collins as a part-time HOME. Love Ya and Cheer Up! You are the toughest woman I know, and this too shall pass!

Decorative trees come in all shapes and sizes. I am sure that you could find just a little tree to put somewhere in the apartment. At the store I used to work at, we had trees as small as 10 inches tall.....small enough to put on a nightstand! And it was only around $5.00 - reasonable, and takes no work whatsoever to assemble or decorate.
