Every month the Senior Saints group from my church gets together and enjoys an activity and lunch. We had good weather and a lovely trip today to the Halls of Christmas Trees here in Fort Collins. The center where this was held was filled with decorated trees, old nativity sets, wall hangings, wreathes, etc. I took several pictures. I would love to have one of those nativity sets, but they are all originals from different countries. The trees were not as pretty as I had hoped for. They were made in different scenery settings and donated by different nurserys and greenhouses around the area....much like the exhibition hall back home at Topsham Fair. Most of the ladies said they weren't as nice this year as years past. Pam has worked at this exhibition as a "tree sitter" in years past..as a volunteer that answers questions and makes sure little fingers don't touch.
We all took lots of pictures and then moved on to the Egg & I for lunch. Some of us had breakfast while others enjoyed lunch. We chatted about the upcoming holidays, events at the church, children, and, of course, the economic conditions of the world and how they effected us as seniors.
We got home just in time, as it looks very much like snow outside and it is very cold and raw. I'm sure by this time next month, we will have white stuff on the ground. Every year the December event is usually snowed out so this year it is going to be a soup/salad luncheon at the church with a white elephant gift exchange. Some of us live close by while others live down in Loveland or over in Windsor....so we still may have a weather problem....we'll have to wait and see.
