Another Day in Paradise

Friday the 13th was a very eventful day for me. The Senior Saints group, which I belong to at our church, went to the Celestial Tea Factory in Boulder for a tour and lunch. Then we went on to the Leaning Tree Art Museum to see all the sculptures and art pieces. They also make greeting cards on the premises. The tea tour took about 45 minutes and then we all spent our pennies in the gift shop because their teas are cheaper at the factory due to no transportation fees added on for store delivery. They are also fresher as they don't sit on store shelves. It was my 2nd trip to this factory as I went 5 years ago when I was here on vacation. I was still awed at the production line: how robotic arms do all the making of the boxes and packing, sealing, and packing in shipping crates they do. They make over 150 kids of tes there now and it is shipped all over the world. The mint teas are stored in a seperate room due to the strong smells they emit. Our tour guide explained how the teas are blended and where many of the tes leaves are grown. Herbal teas are not made from tea leaves, but from flowers or shrubs and are always decaffinated tea. After the tour, we went to lunch in their cafeteria/cafe. They have the best onion rings in the world!! I also had mac and cheese and a hot ham sandwich which was very good. There was over 30 of us that went so we took up a big part of the lunchroom, but we had reservations so our tables were reserved. After our lunch, we browsed and shopped in the gift shop. You can't imagine how many boxes of teas we had to pick from as well as associated items like teapots, teabag holders, etc. We then left for the museum which was on our way home.

The Leaning Tree Art Museum is the biggest display of western art in the world. There were statues everywhere outside the building which I have included in the pictures on this blog. We weren't allowed to take any pictures inside due to copyright laws. We also bought greeting cards there which are made on the premises.

It was another wonderful experience in my new life in Colorado.

I'm glad that you had a good time again. It sounds like you walked a lot. Didn't that bother your legs and feet?

Yes - it definitely did. Three ladies had to have wheelchairs, and I could have used one if there had been any more available. I didn't tour the art museum for that reason, as it would have involved another hour on my feet plus stairs. I still had a great time.
