'Twas the day after Thanksgiving, and all through the house.......
Yes - another holiday season is upon us and there aren't enough hours in a day to get everything done. I managed to sneak in decorating my apartment in the morning before we went to dinner Thanksgiving afternoon. Friday afternoon Arlene and I headed for Pam's house to help her decorate her house, as the Christmas pictures were to be taken on Saturday. Rob unpacked the tree from the garbage bags where it was stored last year (not the same as dragging home the spruce, but we're city people here). We all spent the afternoon decorating the tree and house. That evening Rob cooked chicken out on the grill and then we played a board game for awhile. Saturday morning Pam and Rob picked up Arlene and I to go out for breakfast at a lovely crepe restaurant in Old Town and then Rob took Siena home for her morning nap while Pam, Arlene, and I went to the senior center to the Christmas fair. Today I studied all day in preparation for a quiz in one class and an exam in another Tuesday. The following week is finals and then I'm finished for this semester. Good thing as I have cards to address, gifts to wrap, gifts to buy, and...oh,so much more. I've missed a couple of events with the senior group from my church because I just don't have the time right now with end-of-the senester projects due and two finals coming up all within the next two weeks. There'll be other events next year, I'm sure.

Tomorrow is "needle day" for me. I have to stop at my doctor's office on the way to Pam's house in the morning to have my blood drawn for my cholesterol and thyroid tests. Tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm, Pam, Siena, and I all get our H1N1 vaccinations. I should be in great shape for my first day back to school Tuesday. Since I already had my flu shot in September and got a pneumonia shot 2 weeks ago - that should be it for shots for me this year. Sasha is laying here on the computer desk thanking her lucky stars she doesn't need any shots this year. I have finally completed all my doctor visits except my eye doctor for at least 3 months. I recently changed doctor's and now can walk to my appointments! My new doctor lives right across from my church....but I don't have to cross a street because his office is on the same side of the street as my apartment building. He also does his own blood work, so I don't have to borrow a car to go to the lab to get blood work done. My new eye doctor's office is just down the street by the postoffice here on Boardwalk. Little too far to walk, but still close by. Life is good.

More tidbits later.....for now it's good-night.

Just to clarify, we could go chop down fresh trees in the nearby US Forest if we wanted or could buy them at the greenhouse, but chopping down a tree every year seems awfully wasteful (though a fun experience and I love the smell.) Nothing to do with being "city folk"

Also, surprised you didn't mention your Saturday-morning bath.

I'm afraid the kids might think it's time for me to be "in the home" if I tell them about my lovely experience in a public place!!

I think I will have to send you a Village Candle Christmas Tree candle so you can have that wonderful fragrance of Christmas at home. Although, for as long as I can remember, Pam & I always put up the fake tree in the hallway anyway....

It was still a tree?!?! Better than I've had since I moved out here...I feel like Charlie Brown though even he had a tree...such as it was.
