Today is the First Day of the Rest of My Life

Yes,yes,yes......today I'm celebrating seven months of being "clean" from cigarette smoking!! May not mean much to some of you, but to me it is a huge victory. I still have a long ways to go as I quit smoking once before for 3 1/2 years and then went back. Smoking is an addiction the same as gambling, drinking, and other vises. Therefore, it has to be handled one day at a time the same as other addictions are handled. Life is much the same in that we live one day at a time. Yesterday is history, and tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us. I actually don't even think about my smoking anymore as it is routine for me NOT to reach for the cigarette anymore. I have replaced that nasty and expensive habit with new habits such as reading, knitting, scrap booking, visiting Pam/Rob, etc. Slowly, I am making new friends through my church and Arlene and since they don't smoke, it keeps me in a smoke-free environment. Hopefully I have found a new life since I moved here to Colorado and ,hopefully, God will sustain me day by day to stay "clean".

Congratulations! I am so proud of you being able to go cold turkey and keep it up for all these months. Stick with it! You'll be so happy you did.
